What are Bird Eggs?

Post by tiz »

There are three major parts to bird eggs: the yolk, the white, and the shell. The yolk or vitellus provides a source of nutrition to the chick as it develops. The white or albumen surrounds the yolk, shrinking over time to give the chick room to grow, while the shell protects the developing embryo until it is ready to hatch out.

Bird eggs are nature’s remarkable way of nurturing new life. They are laid by female birds and come in various shapes, sizes, and colors depending on the species. Each egg has a hard outer shell, usually made of calcium carbonate, that protects the developing embryo inside. Inside the shell, the yolk provides nutrients, while the egg white, or albumen, offers protection and additional nourishment. Birds incubate their eggs using body heat until the chicks are ready to hatch. Bird eggs are not just biological marvels but also symbols of life, growth, and renewal in nature.
