Are AI Productivity Tools Actually Making Professionals More Productive?

Post by ethanmiller »

AI tools promise to save time, automate repetitive work, and help professionals focus on higher-value tasks. But with so many options available, choosing the right tools can be harder than using them.

1:) Which AI tools have genuinely improved your daily workflow?
2:) What tasks do you think AI handles better than traditional productivity software?
3:) How do you measure whether an AI tool is actually saving time?
4:) When does adding another AI tool create more complexity than value?

AI productivity tools are most valuable when they handle repetitive tasks without adding another layer of complexity. I’ve found that the real test is simple: does the tool consistently save measurable time while maintaining quality? If setup, prompting, and editing take too long, the productivity gains quickly disappear.

For me, the best AI tools are the ones that quietly remove small tasks from my day rather than trying to replace everything. I usually judge them by how much time they actually save over a week. If a new tool needs too much setup or creates extra steps, I’d rather skip it.
